Creative Expression

Art

Chamberlain offers art instruction to all students at our art studio. The focus of this course is to teach the students to use a variety of materials, media, and techniques. Through participation in this course, the students begin to understand how to use them to produce different visual effects. In addition to the basic course, those students with an expressed interest or special talent are offered an advanced course through our Enrichment Program.

Faculty Spotlight

Alan Iveson, Art Teacher

“Art is a powerful channel for the expression of human emotions. This is why it plays such an important role in Chamberlain’s curriculum. I feel that it is essential for students at Chamberlain to feel good about themselves. Through the art program, I look at each student’s innate abilities, skills, and talents, as their unique strengths and interests. At every opportunity, no matter how basic, we have to encourage students to taste success and experience the feeling of ‘I can do it’."

Music/Drama

Dramatic Instruction is offered in the community through our partnership with The Burt Wood School of Performing Arts (www.burtwoodschool.com). Students may elect to participate in 6-9 week sessions. Each session is focused on a specific form of the dramatic arts. Recent courses have included: Comedic Improvisation, traditional play-acting, and a student-directed Talent Show. Each of these courses culminates in a formal production.
